After calling it a day, I logged off my computer and cleared my desk after a long day’s work.  I then put on my coat and hat taking my phone and placing it into my tote bag and headed down the hall to the elevator.  I got on the elevator taking me to the lobby, where the security guard was seated behind the desk on the right side of the building next to the elevators.  I left the building heading down the dark but lit street; when I noticed that I was being followed by an eerie figure.

As I was being followed, I remembered that I kept a fogger in my left coat pocket, I reached for it and held it, as I walked faster.  As I was walking at a much faster pace, the unknown male began to advance towards me; and it was then that I took my fogger and blasted only once at the approaching individual and ran.  As I was running, I could hear screaming coming from the person, that I just sprayed.  I continue to run to safety until I reached a populated well-lit street, and was able to cross the street, bringing me completely out of danger.  Later I received a news alert, that an unidentified man was discovered deceased, not far from where I left my workplace; what I didn’t know, that it was the same man I sprayed when he was following me.

It was reported that the unidentified man, may have died from cardiac arrest, no further information was provided following that.  Wow!  I hope that the fogger I used was not the culprit, if so then I must deal with this matter on my own.  On the following week, I received a news update on my phone again, that the deceased was identified, and was reported to have a long criminal record; that involves violence and murder.  In addition, it was revealed, that he was wanted for home invasion resulting in murder.  It was reported that the deceased had previously served time in prison for stabbing a man during an altercation; and robbing a person at gunpoint. I was defending myself against a violent individual, who may have taken my life, if it was not for my fogger that I kept in my coat pocket.

The fogger, I used on the would-be assailant, was said to be very powerful as far as the strength of this chemical was concerned, it took just one short blast to the face to bring him down. Later, details of the cause of his death would be released to the public, as to what killed him; and what they revealed, left me with disbelief.

The cause of his death was due to complications of being sprayed with a highly potent pepper spray.  According to the medical examiner’s report, the strength of the chemical, led to the assailant to suffer severe respiratory problems, resulting in breathing difficulty, leading to cardiac arrest and death; in addition, it was also reported that one of his lungs collapsed.  This of course, left me floored, and not wanting to believe that the fogger, I used on this assailant, took his life. But due to the deceased criminal background, law enforcement, refused to pursue criminal charges against whoever killed him.    Hearing this, has brought me a great sense of relief, because it meant that I would not have to turn myself in, which can impact my livelihood and freedom.
